Movie preview: Street Fighter

Did you ever think a video game movie could actually capture the pure joy of classic arcade games? Can high-flying martial arts and cool animation blend together to make an awesome movie?

This action-packed film stars Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, and David Dastmalchian as the evil M. Bison. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, this cinematic brawl is brought to you by Legendary Pictures and Paramount Pictures.

Here are five big reasons why Street Fighter delivers a total knockout.

1. Fun for longtime fans and newbies

Retro gamers will feel instant nostalgia when the classic fights begin. Ryu and Ken show off their karate moves with big Hadouken fireballs during their matches. Meanwhile, Bison steals the show with his hilarious and dramatic villain quotes.

2. A well-paced Street Fighter story

The movie mixes cool 2D anime flashbacks with real live-action fights. This hybrid style keeps the plot moving at a very fast pace. It smoothly connects the heroes' tragic pasts to their final showdowns.

3. High energy, music, and comedy

A lively mix of orchestral themes and hip-hop beats fuels the movie's non-stop martial arts and goofy humor. Rap superstar 50 Cent powers this soundtrack while also pulling double duty as the heavy-hitting boxer Balrog. This fun blend of music, action, and silly jokes keeps audience members smiling from start to finish.

4. A solid cast of iconic fighters

Chun-Li and Blanka step into the ring with impressive moves that bring total fan service to every scene. Other legends like Dhalsim and Guile make memorable appearances that leave you cheering for more. Every actor brings these famous arcade characters to life with great energy and charm.

5. Just the first chapter

Major villains like M. Bison and Vega get awesome screen time, but the story mainly focuses on building up their grand scheme. Deadly fighters like Cammy and Decapre also lead Bison's formidable army into battle during these tactical setups. Giving these iconic bad guys shorter storylines leaves plenty of room for massive showdowns in future sequels.
