What happens when an ordinary suburban neighborhood suddenly finds itself surrounded by dinosaurs? Can a family already dealing with personal problems survive when their 1980s home becomes a prehistoric danger zone?

The End of Oak Street stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as the Platt couple at the center of this sci-fi adventure. Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, the film is produced by Bad Robot and Jackson Pictures and presented by Warner Bros. Pictures.

1. The End of Oak Street goes where you least expect

The story moves through well-crafted sequences that rarely feel disconnected. It knows when to build mystery, unleash action, and reveal something unexpected. The plot twists add excitement without overwhelming the characters’ personal stories. Each sequence is delivered effectively, making the story easy to follow while still keeping you curious about what comes next.

2. An emotional wild ride

From getting thrilled during dangerous encounters to feeling happy during lighter moments, the movie takes you through an impressive range of emotions. There are also moments that can make you angry, frustrated, or genuinely sad. The emotional shifts work because the characters’ relationships remain at the heart of the action.

3. Love, trouble & dinosaurs

One of the movie’s most interesting touches is its realistic portrayal of couple problems within a science-fiction setting. Without spoiling the story, the relationship struggles feel familiar and believable despite the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the characters. This personal conflict adds flavor to the action and blends surprisingly well with the larger sci-fi story.

4. ’80s streets, Jurassic guests

Dinosaurs roaming around an unmistakably 1980s setting could easily feel strange, but the combination works. Kudos to the VFX for making the creatures convincing within the environment. Even better, the movie considers different dinosaur behaviors instead of treating every creature as the same kind of threat. Yes, there are even two dinosaurs simply having a good time.

5. Four leads and one scene-stealing dog

The four main leads deliver impressive performances that make practically every scene compelling. Their chemistry gives the story emotional weight, while their reactions make the extraordinary circumstances feel more believable. And then there is the dog, whose presence adds another layer of charm and tension. Together, the cast keeps the characters engaging from beginning to end.
